Openings in Singapore in the next decade For all the times we’ve joked that our national bird is the crane thanks to never-ending construction, we have to admit that Singapore’s rapid development is praise-worthy.And we’re not slowing down.From new parks and lifestyle hubs, here’s the lowdown on the most exciting openings in Singapore we can look forward to within the next 10 years.
– 2026 to 2027 – 1.Downtown Line extension 2 upcoming stations, Xilin & Sungei Bedok, for faster commutes

The Downtown Line (DTL) extension is about to make your life so much easier.With the latest station, Hume, already up and running since 28th February 2025, and 2 more stations – Xilin and Sungei Bedok – slated to open in the second half of 2026, your daily travels are gonna get a whole lot smoother.
They don’t just cut down travel time – these new DTL MRT stations also bring you closer to places that were once a bit out of reach, like the Former Ford Factory and Sungei Bedok Jetty.

Thomson-East Coast Line stage 5 Final 2 stations connected to DTL

Residents in the east would also be glad to know that Bedok South and Sungei Bedok stations will open in the second half of 2026 as part of Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) stage 5 , with Sungei Bedok being an interchange that connects the TEL to the DTL.

Move over Silicon Valley, Punggol Digital District (PDD) is in the house.Progressively opening from 2024 and expected to be fully operational in 2026, the smart district will bring together the Singapore Institute of Technology’s (SIT) campus and JTC’s Business Park spaces.
PDD is expected to create 28,000 jobs in cybersecurity and data analytics.
So if you’re working in these fields, your future office could very well be here.We hear there are even going to be drones delivering goods in a centralised logistics hub.

While Old Punggol Road has already been converted into a Heritage Trail connecting to Punggol Waterway Park , there’s still more to come for the district.Habyt will be operating a 224-room hotel , scheduled to open in the first half of 2027.
Residents in the Punggol district can look forward to PDD’s sky terrace gardens, which will feature pod-like spaces for casual business meetings or for muggers to study.There are also free autonomous shuttles to take you around the neighbourhood; these shuttles are on trial now with fixed routes, so keep an eye out for them on the Punggol streets.
On-demand services for these shuttles are expected to be available in the 4th quarter of 2026, so you can hop on and alight at your preferred locations instead.
4.Alexandra Nature Park 500m trail in a forest valley

Those on a quest to conquer all the walking trails on our sunny island, there’s more coming your way.Soon, Alexandra Nature Park will join the Labrador Nature Park Network, which will then comprise 4 new parks and 6 existing parks, including Labrador Park and the Labrador Nature Reserve.Perhaps most exciting of all is the 500m trail set in a natural forest valley.
5.Rail Corridor New stretches reopening

You’ve probably already heard so much about the Green Corridor , also known as the Rail Corridor , that you’re wondering what else is there to know about it.
Well, the portions that were closed off have been progressively reopening, with phase 1 of repair works from Jalan Kilang Barat to Henderson Road already reopened since 2nd March 2026.
Plus, the repair works for the route down south in the CBD from Henderson Road to Spooner Road are expected to be completed by 31st July 2027 – yay to finally being able to access the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.

Residents of Ang Mo Kio will have more reasons to celebrate as LTA is planning to add 27km of cycling routes in the neighbourhood by 2026.The route will cover part of the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio but also conveniently connect to nearby amenities such as schools, food centres, and community centres.

With Singapore’s ageing population on the rise, it’s no surprise that the government is planning various facilities for our senior citizens.The Heart of Yew Tee Integrated Development , which will be completed by 2027, is a senior-friendly HDB estate that will house an impressive mix of facilities within the area for easy access.
For example, they will be able to dine at Choa Chu Kang’s first hawker centre, visit polyclinics, and socialise with their kakis at the community clubs or gardens – all without having to venture out of their neighbourhood.
Residents will even have their own community garden to grow edible plants and fruit trees.
8.4 new nature trails by 2026 Across a whopping 360km Image credit: NParks
We don’t usually think of Singapore as a walkable city, but we’re about to have 4 new nature trails .We will soon be able to explore our island across 360km of nature trails that are gradually opening since the initial announcement in 2021.
The first new path will be a 25km coast-to-coast trail from Khatib Bongsu to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve .
Then, a 34km Central Corridor from Woodlands to the city that’s projected to be completed by 2030, and the completed 18km Eastern Corridor from Pasir Ris to East Coast Park via Bedok Reservoir.Finally, the longest cross-island trail will be a 62km trail from Changi Beach to Tuas.
9.NS Square The Marina Bay Floating Platform 2.0

If you were saddened by the news that the Floating Platform at Marina Bay will no longer play host to the annual NDP, here’s some exciting news.Construction of NS Square is underway and will be the new venue for future NDPs once it is ready in 2027.
This new multi-purpose space will have a performance stage with a grandstand of 30,000 seating capacity and a new public waterfront promenade where the public can enjoy dragon boating, canoeing, and kayaking.
Besides, there will be an NS-themed gallery celebrating the stories of our men in green.
10.Jurong Lake District New Science Centre in 2027

With Jem, IMM, and Westgate, Jurong is already a pretty happening place.It’s about to get even more lit with the Jurong Lake District development plan.The one we’re most excited about is the new Science Centre that will be ready around the end of 2027 and will sit right by Jurong Lake .

In line with our garden city theme, Jurong Lake District is planning to have dedicated cycling paths or designate some new roads as Transit Priority Corridors that are not accessible to cars, only buses, bicycles, and pedestrians.
There’ll also be an additional way to get here with the new Jurong Region Line station set to open in 2028.
11.East Coast Integrated Depot 4-in-1 MRT & bus depot

After bearing with train service adjustments to facilitate the development of the East Coast Integrated Depot , we can look forward to greater rail reliability once it’s fully operational in 2026.
This depot will replace the existing Changi Depot and decommissioned Changi Bus Park, integrating 3 MRT depots and 1 bus depot with the capacity to hold around 220 trains and 500 buses.The East-West Line Depot is already in operation, while the Thomson-East Coast Line and Downtown Line depots are expected to follow suit by the end of 2026.
The stacked design of the 3 depots means about 44 hectares of land space is saved, so we can have more space for future exciting developments.
– 2028 to 2030 – 12.Jurong Region Line stage 1 10 new stations in the west

It currently feels like the whole of Jurong is one huge construction site, and this is because of the construction of the above-ground Jurong Region Line (JRL) .
The first stage of the JRL is set to open in 2028.It will be a new, teal coloured line on the map – not to be confused with the lime green of the Cross Island Line and the green of the East-West Line – connecting Choa Chu Kang to Boon Lay and Tawas for Stage 1.
With smaller carriages to navigate the tighter curves of the track, it’s almost like a god-tier LRT to improve connectivity in the region.You can look forward to easier access to currently ulu places like Tengah New Town, Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong Innovation District, and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
13.Marina Bay Sands Tower 4 & entertainment area

Marina Bay Sands (MBS) has announced their expansion plans to add the 4th tower and an entertainment arena .Targeted for completion by June 2030 and opening by January 2031, MBS Tower 4 will add 570 luxury suites for tourists and staycationers alike.
The 15,000-seater entertainment arena will be used not only for concerts but also for large conferences and MICE events.
According to MBS, the state-of-the-art facilities and new technology will allow for entertainment with technically high production value.We await with bated breath.
14.Cross Island Line 27 new MRT stations by 2032

Our MRT map gets more colourful as the years go by and new lines are being added.The Cross Island Line will be the 8th line and the longest fully underground one when it becomes operational in phases starting in 2030.
The line will connect dwellers in the east, west, and northeast.
That means peeps living in Changi will be able to get to Jurong or Punggol without having to change lines and vice versa.Even then, almost half the stations on the line will be interchange stations linking to other lines.

It’s part of the Singapore Green Plan that all households will be within a 10-minute walk from a park by 2030 .Ever since Covid-19 happened, we all know how being outdoors in the parks has played such an important role in maintaining our sanity.
So we couldn’t be happier with our little red dot’s aim to have 500km of park connectors and 30 therapeutic gardens across Singapore by 2030.

Changi Airport Terminal 5 Largest terminal to open in Singapore

Singapore is going full steam ahead with the plans to build Changi Terminal 5 (T5), the airport’s largest terminal.
Changi Airport Group emphasised that learning from Covid-19, the airport will feature contactless systems at passenger touchpoints and enhanced ventilation systems.
Construction officially broke ground in May 2025, and Changi East Urban District will be built right next to T5 and will feature offices, hotels, and serviced apartments.
T5 is set to be operational from the mid-2030s.

As far as car-free neighbourhoods go, it might not be too far from reality when the new Paya Lebar town comes to be.In place of the current Paya Lebar Air Base , the town will be developed once the airbase relocates, starting from around 2030.
Making good use of the long stretch of runway, the URA has plans to turn it into a car-free walkable stretch, providing access to nearby housing, communal facilities and amenities.URA has also said that the design will pay homage to the unique aviation heritage by retaining the former airport buildings and repurposing them into something new.

Just like the current Paya Lebar Quarter, the town will integrate office, residential, and commercial buildings into the neighbourhood with lots of green spaces for play.In the 2022 National Day Rally speech , then-PM Lee floated the idea that the 3.8km runway could be part of a green connector that would eventually link to other PCNs around the area.
18.Kallang Alive precinct Elevated running track & sports facilities

The Kallang is about to get a whole lot bigger with more sporting facilities and community facilities in the works.
Being touted as the Kallang Alive Masterplan , there are plans to relocate the Singapore Sports School from Woodlands to Kallang, and give the existing Kallang Wave Mall and OCBC Square a glow-up , among others.
With the vision that sports is for everyone, the entire Kallang Alive precinct will be a place for all ages to get active, whether they are training competitively or playing recreationally.Some highlights you can look forward to are a pedestrianised boulevard, and a dedicated area at the waterfront for sports, picnics, and just tranquil river vibes.

Adding to the long list of reasons to stay in the east, URA’s plans for Bayshore are pretty exciting.There will be a 60-hectare precinct located next to East Coast Park with dedicated cycling paths and wider pavements for pedestrians.
The precinct is expected to comprise around 12,500 new homes, supported by a range of amenities.These include the new SAFRA Bayshore clubhouse, which will be the largest SAFRA in the country, and a bus interchange at the upcoming Bedok South Integrated Transport Hub (ITH), providing residents with convenient public transport connections.
The row of condos along Bayshore will also be next to a new park that will celebrate the history of the pre-reclamation coastline with heritage seawalls and a sea pavilion.

Woodlands is ulu no more ever since the Thomson-East Coast Line opened.But there’s something even better – over the next 15 years, URA has announced plans to develop Woodlands Central into a vibrant hub consisting of offices and retailers, as part of the Woodlands Regional Centre plans.
There will also be a new public plaza and cycling paths that connect to the Woodlands MRT station.Together with the upcoming Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link and other transport improvements, Woodlands is shaping up to be one of Singapore’s most well-connected and exciting regional centres.

Greater Southern Waterfront 30km of coastline & 10,000 new homes

The Greater Southern Waterfront is one of the biggest redevelopment projects in this list.Once port operations are fully relocated to Tuas by 2027, around 1,000ha of prime waterfront land will be transformed into new homes, workplaces, parks and lifestyle destinations along a 30km stretch from Gardens by the Bay East to Pasir Panjang.
Around 10,000 public and private homes will be built in the area, starting with the Former Keppel Golf Course site.The first BTO project in the area was launched in October 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2031, with residential blocks rising up to 46 storeys.
The transformation doesn’t stop there.The former Pasir Panjang Power District will be redeveloped into a waterfront lifestyle destination, while the Keppel Terminal and Keppel Distripark sites are lined up for future homes and public spaces after the port’s relocation is complete, giving you more reasons to visit the south of Singapore.
22.Long Island Project 800ha of reclaimed land and a new reservoir

The Long Island mega project will reclaim around 800ha of land off East Coast Park, about twice the size of Marina Bay, to better protect Singapore’s low-lying eastern coastline from rising sea levels.
Besides strengthening coastal protection, the development will create around 20km of new waterfront parks, nearly tripling East Coast Park’s existing footprint.It will also include a new freshwater reservoir, separated from the sea by 2 barrages and pumping stations that operate similarly to Marina Barrage .
The first phase will begin with preparatory works in the waters west of Bedok Jetty at the end of 2026.
A second phase is expected to commence only after the 2029 SEA Games, and with the project set to be carried out over several decades, it’ll be some time before the full vision comes to life.
23.Pulau Brani Part of the Greater Sentosa Master Plan

Sentosa is about to get a whole lot bigger.
Under the Greater Sentosa Master Plan unveiled in July 2026, the 120ha Pulau Brani will come under Sentosa’s management, paving the way for new hotels, attractions and nature-based experiences.
While Pulau Brani has long served as a working port island that’s mostly been seen from the Singapore Cable Car , it’s now being reimagined as Singapore’s next leisure destination.Brani West has been earmarked as one of the largest attraction zones in the master plan, with plenty of room for future developments.
As part of Sentosa’s transformation over the next 20 years, a new People Mover System will replace the ageing Sentosa Express with increased capacity.The new Island Heart Transport Hub will also serve as the main gateway connecting Sentosa and Pulau Brani, making it more convenient to explore both islands.
24.Tengah & Seletar Lines 2 new lines for 400,000 households

Just when you thought our MRT map couldn’t get any more colourful, LTA is studying 2 more lines .The Seletar Line would run through Woodlands, Sembawang, Sengkang West, Serangoon North, Whampoa, Kallang and the Greater Southern Waterfront, while the Tengah Line would cover Tengah, Bukit Batok, Queensway and Bukit Merah.
Between them, the 2 lines would put over 400,000 households within a 10-minute walk of a station, and shave up to 40 minutes off the journey into town for those living up north.
LTA is also weighing whether the 2 could be merged into a single line, since they’d meet at the Greater Southern Waterfront anyway.
Manage your expectations though, because these are still at the feasibility stage.Engineering studies only started in 2026, and the lines are expected to open in phases from the 2040s, making it more for the next generation of west and north siders.
