Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu has made a special announcement on the occasion on New Year.Vembu took to social media platform X to announce an important update for the Arattai app.The company has announced that the Arattai app is now available on Android TV and it will enable the users to access chats, media and group conversations directly on their TV screens.What the update means for users
The move brings Arattai into the smart TV ecosystem, enabling families and groups to use the app in a shared environment.With Android TV integration, users can: View and respond to messages on larger screens.Share media such as photos and videos seamlessly during gatherings.Participate in group chats without relying solely on smartphones.
This expansion reflects Arattai’s ambition to become a multi‑platform communication tool, bridging personal and family use cases.Arattai app: Features and challenges Arattai offers familiar features such as: One-to-one and group chats with text, voice notes, and media sharing Audio and video calls with end-to-end encryption Multi-device support, including desktop and Android TV apps Stories and channels for broadcasting updates However, the app is still ironing out issues.Users have reported OTP delays, slower contact sync, and call glitches due to server overload.Arattai app gets end-to-end encryption Last month, the company rolled out system-wide end-to-end encryption on the Arattai app.Announcing the release in an X post, Vembu then said that it is a “forced upgrade on all because it is a drastic change”.
“We had to do some redesign around it and we wanted extensive testing because it is a drastic change.It is now being tested by about 6,000 people in the company.We identified some issues and have fixed them.We are doing one more round of testing on a new build that has fixed the issues identified,” he then said.
