Sean Hannity, Marjorie Taylor Greene Join Trump’s New App Truth Social As Public Struggles To Sign Up For Platform

imageTopline Several of the most prominent right-wing figures in the U.S.are already active on President Donald Trump’s new social media platform, Truth Social, which topped the Apple App Store Monday even though the long-awaited app has been plagued with glitches that have kept most prospective users from accessing it.

Key Facts Conservative news personalities like Sean Hannity and Dan Bongino are already on the platform, according to Fox Business , as is Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.

Right-wing firebrand members of Congress like Reps.Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) also successfully signed up, according to screenshots posted on their Twitter accounts.

Forbes has not been able to access the app, but images posted of the platform suggest it’s similar to a Twitter feed, with “truths” appearing in place for “tweets.”

A source with knowledge of the rollout told Fox Business the platform plans to populate itself over the next 10 days with users who preordered the app, which should be fully operational by the end of the quarter.

Many users hoping to sign up were told they had to join a waitlist before accessing the platform, while others received error messages when attempting to sign up or weren’t sent a verification email to approve their accounts.

It’s not immediately clear how many people signed up to use the app, but screenshots recently posted on Twitter Monday suggest the waitlist has topped 100,000.

What We Don’t Know It’s not clear how long it will take for those who have been waitlisted to access the platform. The Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns the app, didn’t respond to a request for comment from Forbes .Apple also did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the glitches.

Chief Critic Rep.

Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), who was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, blasted the new platform, saying it will “be boring and fail, because it will be all Trump-fed drones.”

Key Background Trump announced plans in October to launch Truth Social to regain his once massive presence on social media and create a “rival to the liberal media consortium” following bans from every major social media platform after his supporters attacked the U.S.Capitol on January 6, 2021.The app is being run by a new firm, the Trump Media and Technology Group, which will be publicly listed after it merges with Digital World Acquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition company.

The company is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission for potentially holding talks with Trump before it went public, according to the New York Times .

Tangent Truth Social in December announced it’s partnering with Canadian video platform Rumble , which is popular with the far-right, to host video services on the platform.
