Manchester United came from behind to beat Villarreal in the Champions League on Wednesday night – but not all of their players enjoyed the comeback.Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the hero for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, forcing in a loose ball at the back post in the 95th minute. It was not a straightforward win for United, who were dominated in the first half by the Spanish side, with David de Gea keeping them in it.The pressure eventually told when Paco Alcacer turned in Arnaut Danjuma’s cross, but their lead didn’t last long as Alex Telles brilliantly volleyed in Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick from the edge of the box. With the game in the balance, Solskjaer then turned to his substitutes’ bench, bringing on Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic for Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba after 75 minutes.
The Norwegian’s second double-substitution did have the desired effect, with Jesse Lingard involved in Ronaldo’s dramatic winner after coming on alongside Fred in the 89th minute.Solskjaer’s decision did not appear to go down well with one of his players, however, with eagle-eyed fans spotting the reaction of Donny van de Beek on the bench. While Solskjaer and his assistant Mike Phelan were overseeing the introductions of Lingard and Fred, Van de Beek could be seen in the background looking furious.Fellow substitutes Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly can be seen trying to console their team-mate, but it is no good. Then, in full view of the camera, the Dutch midfielder takes his chewing gum out of his mouth and throws it down by Phelan and onto the turf in front of him.
