The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world when they announced they were stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family last year. The couple moved to Los Angeles with their son Archie and have since welcomed a daughter, Lilibet Diana.

The YouGov poll in February found around 63 percent of US respondents viewed Kate as very or somewhat favourably.

However, only 57 percent said the same about Meghan.

Meanwhile, Prince William surpassed his younger brother, Harry, with 66 percent to 62 percent respectively.

Meghan Markle (Image: Getty) The Queen was still favoured over the Sussexes with 68 percent with many Americans viewing her as “very or somewhat favourably”.

Now, royal expert, Daniela Elser, has argued Harry and Meghan’s fast approach to their post-palace careers has not “translated” into support in the US.

Writing in news.com.au, Ms Elser said: “Brits were aggrieved that Harry and Meghan had seemed to blindside the Queen (a charge they have denied) and to have flounced off when they didn’t get exactly the new terms they fancied.

“Americans, meanwhile, were ready to welcome them with open arms and gluten-free muffin baskets, revelling in their chutzpah.”

“That should be concerning, given popularity is the currency upon which highly lucrative commercial relationships are built.”

Back in June, a recent poll found Meghan’s popularity across Europe overtook Prince Charles.

A ballot carried out on 6,000 people across France, Germany, Italy and Spain found Meghan was more popular than Prince Charles at 39 percent and 32 percent respectively.

To add to the damning results for Charles, more than half of those surveyed (56 percent) would prefer Prince William to be the next British Monarch.

Charles – who will be King when Queen Elizabeth II steps down or dies – only received 18 percent of the votes.

Since stepping down as members of the Royal Family, both Harry and Meghan have made several explosive allegations about the Firm.

Since then, Harry has also taken part in a podcast and a documentary series where he has hit out at the Royal Family.

In May, the Duke of Sussex appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast where he said he does not want to pass on pain from his own experience to his own children.

“It’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway so we as parents should be doing the most we can to try and say, ‘You know what, that happened to me, I’m going to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.'”

In a documentary series, called ‘The Me You Can’t See’, Harry also opened up about his experiences with mental health, claiming his suffering goes back to the “same people, the same business model and the same industry”.
